ParkinG

to Park to Hike Into the Cemetery

After passing through the right-hand gate to head into the cemetery, follow the road about 300 feet. The parking area is located about 300 feet down the road. You can park anywhere in the grassy area off the road along the fence line. The trail head is located just past the gap in the fence for cars on the left. We encourage you to take 10 minutes and hike the beautiful Kathy Cantwell Trail (Blue Trail). This trail winds through wonderful mesic hammock and in ½ mile crosses Cemetery Lane, where you can turn left to enter the cemetery.

to Park in the Cemetery

After passing through the right-hand gate to head into the cemetery, follow the road for about ½ mile, through the first pasture and past the fence. When the road curves to the left and the trees open up, parking is available on the left side of the road before the kiosk. More parking is available further up cemetery lane on the left side by the meadow. Please keep all driving on Cemetery Lane and park only in designated parking areas. Do not drive onto our trails or into the burial areas. If you have mobility needs and need assistance to visit a gravesite, please call us in advance of your visit and we will be happy to assist you with one of our golf carts.

HIKING

There are many hiking opportunities throughout Prairie Creek Preserve and Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery. A map of trails through the cemetery and through the larger Prairie Creek Preserve can be found here. A hike we most recommend to folks is the Kathy Cantwell Trail (Blue Trail). This .9 mile trail takes you through cemetery as well as many of the unique ecosystems found here at PCCC.

Additionally the Wayne Clements Trail (Purple Trail) is a shorter trail with picnic tables and nice view of one of the several cypress wetlands on the property.

Visit a Grave

To find a grave, we first encourage folks to use our find a grave function available for smart phones here. If this does not work, please call us at (352) 336-5910 and we will do our best to assist you. If you would like to visit a grave but have mobility impairments our staff can offer golf cart rides to gravesites by appointment.
