If this donation is being made in memory of someone buried at PCCC, please make a note of the deceased’s name when completing payment to ensure recognition of the donation as such.
One-time Donations
The fee for body burial at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery (PCCC) is $2000. This amount has not increased since our first burial in 2010. However, our operational cost (land restoration and enhancements, insurance, staff, and educational workshops, etc.) has significantly increased over the years. Part of our mission is to keep our burial fee as low as possible to make conservation burial accessible to the broadest section of our community. We depend greatly on donations to provide this option and maintain affordable burial fees for this environmentally sustainable choice.
With PCCC’s non-profit status, your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowable. PayPal purchases are completely secure. Your tax-deductible donation may also be mailed to: Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery, 7204 SE County Road 234, Gainesville, FL 32641.
PCCC Sustainers
If you are interested in regularly supporting our mission through recurring donations, consider becoming a “PCCC Sustainer.” A PCCC Sustainer pledges to make monthly (or annual) gifts to support the work of Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery. Recurring donations allow us to better plan and utilize your donations for their maximum impact. To become a Sustainer you may pledge to give at any level annually or monthly, though we have outlined recommended levels of giving below. All donations are tax deductible and directly support our efforts to expand the awareness and accessibility of conservation burial.
Sustainers at all levels will be invited to attend events like guided trail walks and will also receive a dedicated quarterly newsletter that includes updates on the organization, the restoration of the land, and how we are investing your generous donations.

Is Planned Giving Part of Your Pre-Planning?
Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery exists because of the generous contributions made since 2010 by volunteers, one-time donors and sustaining sponsors. In addition to choosing a natural burial at PCCC, making a planned gift to PCCC is a meaningful way to express your support of this significant work, and further our mission of natural burial that conserves land and reunites people with the earth.
Whether you have been involved in philanthropy throughout your life or are wanting to leave a legacy, leaving a set amount or percentage of your estate to a non-profit has a range of financial rewards. There is a wide range of tax and income incentives the federal law provides to encourage your generous support of non-profits. Listed below are some of the most common bequest and trust arrangements. This is basic information and we recommend you consult your attorney and your tax or financial advisers to establish an estate plan specific to your interests and needs.
Cash Bequest
PCCC receives a specified dollar amount.Specific Bequest or Devise of Property
PCCC receives specified assets, such as securities, an interest in real estate (such as a residence or land), or tangible personal property.Residuary Bequest or Devise
PCCC receives all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate after specific legacies, debts, taxes, and estate expenses have been paid.Contingent Bequest or Devise
PCCC receives a gift according to the language of the bequest. There are a wide variety of conditions that you could place on such a bequest. For example, if you outlive other named beneficiaries, then part or all of your estate would benefit PCCC.
If you have included PCCC in your will or estate plan, please let us know. The details of your planned gift are not necessary, we simply want to thank you and recognize your generosity and support of our mission.

Your bequest to PCCC may qualify your estate for a charitable deduction equal to the entire amount of the bequest. Consult your tax or financial adviser for further information.

One or more named beneficiaries receive income for life or for a specified term of years, after which time the assets pass to PCCC. Through this arrangement, you can provide income to family members or friends, realize significant tax savings, and ensure important benefits to PCCC after the trust's termination.
Charitable Remainder Trust
One or more named beneficiaries receive income for life or for a specified term of years, after which time the assets pass to PCCC. Through this arrangement, you can provide income to family members or friends, realize significant tax savings, and ensure important benefits to PCCC after the trust's termination.Charitable Lead Trust
Income from the trust is paid to PCCC for a period of years, after which time the assets pass to your heirs, usually your grandchildren, at a reduced estate tax cost. By substantially reducing estate and other transfer taxes, this arrangement allows you to preserve a larger portion of your estate for your beneficiaries. -
IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, Keoghs, and other retirement plan assets make up an increasingly large part of many estates. When left to your heirs, these assets can be subject to income, estate, and other transfer taxes. Naming PCCC as a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of all or a percentage of your plan assets may reduce or eliminate both income and estate taxes. Note that designating a specific dollar amount, rather than a specified percentage, may result in the inclusion of these funds in your gross estate for tax purposes.
To designate PCCC as the beneficiary of some or all of your retirement plan funds, please use the following language on the retirement plan forms:
To the Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery, a non-profit organization (Tax ID #27-0268610), with a principal business address of 7204 SE County Road 234, Gainesville, FL 32641, for its general purposes - OR - to support _________________ (e.g., conservation, recreation, education, historic preservation).
Retirement plan assets can also be placed in a testamentary charitable remainder trust to provide income to your heirs for life or a specified term of years with the remainder interest passing to PCCC.
-
Life insurance is another asset that could be used to support PCCC, especially when a policy no longer serves its original purpose. Such gifts often provide certain tax benefits as well. To designate PCCC as the primary or contingent beneficiary of some or all of your life insurance policy, use the same language that is suggested above for use in designating retirement plan assets.
